Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to host the 15th edition of Public Transport Day from October 28 to November 1, 2024, under the theme “Good for You, Great for Dubai.”
This annual celebration, observed every November 1, promotes the benefits of using public transport and aims to make Dubai one of the world’s top cities for sustainable living.

Why Public Transport Day is Important
Public Transport Day has been a key initiative since its inception in 2009, aimed at encouraging residents and visitors to use Dubai’s extensive public transport network, including the Dubai Metro, tram, buses, marine transport, and soft mobility options like bicycles and e-scooters.
By increasing public transport usage, Dubai supports its sustainability goals, reduces traffic congestion, and enhances overall urban mobility.
Activities and Prizes for Frequent Public Transport Users
The RTA is planning a series of exciting activities and competitions throughout the week, offering participants the chance to win nol+ points and other rewards. The event will feature six categories, recognizing the most frequent public transport users, with three winners per category:
- 1 million nol+ points for the top winner
- 500,000 nol+ points for the second-place winner
- 250,000 nol+ points for the third-place winner
New categories for 2024 include recognizing the most frequent user since Public Transport Day began in 2009, as well as specific categories for senior citizens and students, encouraging participation from diverse groups within Dubai.
A Chance to Win AED 10,000 and More
One of the most anticipated events of this year’s Public Transport Day is the “Mysterious Man Challenge.”
Organized in collaboration with the Arabian Radio Network (ARN), this challenge invites participants to search for a “Mysterious Man” at various metro stations from October 30 to November 1.
Each day, the first participant to locate the Mysterious Man will win AED 10,000, with the grand prize winner on November 1 receiving a 50-gram gold bar.
RTA’s Commitment to Sustainable Living in Dubai
The RTA continues to play a crucial role in supporting Dubai’s sustainability agenda, helping the city transition toward a greener, more sustainable future.
Public Transport Day not only encourages residents to embrace public transport options but also highlights the broader benefits of reducing car usage, minimizing carbon emissions, and promoting healthier lifestyles.
This annual event aligns with the RTA’s mission to make public transport an integral part of Dubai’s urban development and sustainability strategy.
By celebrating frequent public transport users, the RTA hopes to further embed the habit of public transport use into daily life, making Dubai a model city for sustainable mobility.
